  Rory Richards The Church At Highpoint Welcomes The Community To Participate In Its Christmas Eve Service      The Church at Highpoint in Romeoville will be hosting a special family service on Christmas Eve. The service will begin straight away at 4:00 P.M. with a “Christmas Music Extravaganza”, followed by a speech by guest Speaker Antonio Brooks, and closing with a Silent Night singalong by candlelight.       The service will take place in the Highpoint community in Romeoville, in the Creative Arts Center, at 174 S. Highpoint Dr.

 By Frank Piegari Happy Tuesday Saints! This past Monday (12/5) saw the Women's Basketball team take on the Calumet College of Saint Joseph. While the team was away, fans still had the chance to support the women via a livestream video of the game. On Tuesday (12/6), the Students Activities Board will be hosting a late night breakfast party beginning at 7:00 p.m. in the Moes room located in the Motherhouse building. Chick-fil-A breakfast food will be catered for this event, so don't miss out. The weekly tradition of the Walmart shuttle continues one last time this Wednesday (12/7). The shuttle leaves from the Rec Center at 7:00 p.m. so be sure to get their on time, so you can partake in this magically journey one last time.  A numerous amount of Joliet's crimes have been committed by troubled individuals. A lot of these people need help and need to get a better grasp on life and the decisions they make. The following stories detail some of these troubled criminals' experience with breaking the law.  Man Caught With Child Pornography     Joliet, IL - Bernard Kelly, a 29-year-old man, had his house raided by Illinois State Police. The police conducted the raid at Kelly's home on the 1300 block of Copperfield Avenue after an in-depth investigation. They found the child pornography in a file on one of Kelly's electronic devices.  Kelly was arrested and taken to Will County Jail. He is facing 3 counts of possession of child porn and currently has a bail of $250,000. The exhibit is available from November 19th through January 7th, 2023 opening up at 4:30 pm and closing at 8:30 each night. According to mortonarb.org , “...guests will explore 18 different features along a tree-lined one-mile walking trail immersed in color, light and sound created exclusively for The Morton Arboretum.” Guests will most definitely get their movement in for the day with this event. Interested in going and what the ticket prices are? If you are a member the standard adult tickets are $22, with children being $14. As far as guest tickets, the standard adult price is $27 and children are $16. This event will be closed December 12th, 24th and 25th. Earlier this year, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker pushed against the gas tax increase by placing a 6 month hold on the scheduled hike. His goal was to relieve Illinois families from further financial stress. As published by My State Line reporter, John Clark, “Pritzker hoped that the initiative might ease the effects of inflation on residents.” Initially postponed to January 1 of this year, a bill coming from Springfield has proposed that the hike in gas tax be pushed back an additional 6 months.  Across the country, gas prices are decreasing; but Illinois remains number two in terms of how much its residents have to pay to fill up their tanks. With California in the lead, Illinois’ prices show no real stopping point. Without taking the increases into consideration, Illinois still comes in with second place for highest gas taxing. Herald-News reporter Felix Sarver was able to bring a little bit of closure to those of us wondering what truly happened in the 32 seconds of mystery that I wrote about here . The body cam footage that was finally released did indeed prove that in the span of about 30 seconds, a big mistake had been made. Within those 30 seconds, Jabbar was instructed 11 times (by the deputies) to put his weapon down, and as he had bent over to seemingly do so, deputy Binnendyk fired his gun as Jabbar Muhammad lunged at Eldred Wells.  Sarver wrote about how the Freedom of Information Act requests had finally produced newly released records from the Will County sheriff’s. The protest started at 3 AM on Monday, which was Cyber Monday, a marketing term for e-commercial transactions on the Monday after Thanksgiving to encourage people to shop online. This protest is the second one in less than two months and workers are still asking for better work conditions. Indeed, they want a safer workplace as well as a pay increase. The worker chose Cyber Monday to protest as a way to amplify their intentions since, according to them, Amazon could lose millions of dollars by being shut down during Cyber Monday.      On November 6, 2021, Jabbar Muhammad and Eldred Wells were pronounced dead after Will County policemen arrived on the scene. A 911 call reporting potential domestic abuse had been placed. It was initially stated that the deputies had attempted to calm Jabbar down, ordering him to put his knife down. When Jabbar lunged at his grandfather, the deputies shot Jabbar in an attempt to save Eldred Wells’ life. In one statement, it was disclosed that the policemen had gotten to the home at 4:07 pm, while a paramedic report stated that at 4:08 pm, Jabbar Muhammad was dead. As recounted by Joliet patch reporters, both men were killed within 32 seconds of the deputies arriving at the Joliet Township home. According to Joliet police the crash occurred around 11:05 p.m. and took place on the Joliet side of Larkin Avenue. The following stories detail these incidents.  By Josh Golden  Cocaine Dealers Caught With Guns     Joliet, IL - On November 17, two cocaine dealing defendants have been placed into Will County Jail on numerous charges. The two drug dealers were caught due to a raid conducted by the Joliet police's Narcotics and Tactical units. During the raid of the house on the 700 block of West Marion Street, police discovered a 9 mm handgun, ammunition, cash, and cocaine and ecstasy pills were also confiscated. The police caught 42-year-old Victor Bailey and his associate 25-year-old Trayonte Holmes in a traffic stop on the 900 block of Jefferson street . Oakland Avenue in Shorewood, this new restaurant offers Peruvian, Mexican and other Latin specialties. Its owners, Karlos Soriano and Paco Villar, are both respectively natives of Peru and Mexico. The partners originally wanted to open the restaurant in 2021, however, it was postponed due to the pandemic. This new C-Viche restaurant is the second location on top of the one located at 2165 S. Kinnickinnic Av. in Milwaukee. This new location will be the same as the first one with the exception that his new one will have an open kitchen where four people at a time would be able to sit behind the counter and watch the cooks.  Hours of opening are will be 4 to 10 PM Tuesday through Thursday and 4 to 11 PM Friday and Saturday. Starting on December 1, users will no longer be presented with an option to list their sexual orientation, their political views, their address, or their religious views on their personal profiles. Facebook did not provide an explanation for this decision. The decision was announced one week after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, fired 11,000 employees, 13% of its total workforce; whether or not these two events are correlated, however, remains unclear.
