Troubled Criminals in Joliet

 A numerous amount of Joliet's crimes have been committed by troubled individuals. A lot of these people need help and need to get a better grasp on life and the decisions they make. The following stories detail some of these troubled criminals' experience with breaking the law. 

Man Caught With Child Pornography

    Joliet, IL - Bernard Kelly, a 29-year-old man, had his house raided by Illinois State Police. The police conducted the raid at Kelly's home on the 1300 block of Copperfield Avenue after an in-depth investigation. They found the child pornography in a file on one of Kelly's electronic devices. 

Kelly was arrested and taken to Will County Jail. He is facing 3 counts of possession of child porn and currently has a bail of $250,000. Police announce that the investigation is still open and will be ongoing. 

Man Turns Himself In After Domestic Violence

    Joliet, IL - Back in October a woman was attacked by her partner Justin Gillett. Gillett is a 32-year-old man who had a warrant out for his arrest after this attack. Last Tuesday, Gillett turned himself in to police and is in Will County Jail with a bail of $25,000. 

The attack took place at the Star Inn motel on West Jefferson Street. Gillett had pushed and held the woman down and struck her with his elbow. The woman was taken to St Joe's hospital and was treated for her non-life-threatening injuries. Gillett had fled the scene by the time police arrived and when he turned himself in about a month later, he was charged with two counts of aggravated battery and two counts of domestic violence. 

Man Attacks Elderly Relative

    Joliet, IL - A 32-year-old man was arrested after he attacked an elderly relative of his. The attack happened on November 25 at Joliet's Hope Manor Apartments. According to a Joliet Police spokesperson Dwayne English, the attacker, Erick Marcano, appeared to be under the influence of an unknown drug when he arrived at the apartment.

Marcano threw the senior citizen to the ground and struck them in the face. When police arrived, Marcano was not cooperative with them and even shoved an officer. While being arrested Marcano was attempting to pull away and when brought to the Joliet police he refused to cooperate.  

Marcano was charged with aggravated battery to a senior citizen and to a peace officer, domestic battery, obstructing justice and resisting a peace officer. He is in Will County Jail with his bail set at $50,000.

  Rory Richards Facebook Certain Fields From Profile Bios, Including “Religious Views”; Does Not Say Why Facebook has announced plans to remove certain fields from profile bios. Starting on December 1, users will no longer be presented with an option to list their sexual orientation, their political views, their address, or their religious views on their personal profiles. Facebook did not provide an explanation for this decision. The decision was announced one week after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, fired 11,000 employees, 13% of its total workforce; whether or not these two events are correlated, however, remains unclear.

Bolingbrook Blues Showcase is Happening on September 24

Claar Performing Arts Center on September 24, 2022. The showcase will feature nine bands from Chicagoland who will compete in round 2 of the “Chicago Blues Challenge."  The challenge will be timed, judged and scored as the bands perform.
