Christkindlmarket, a traditional outdoor German Christmas market, is open till December 24th in RiverEdge Park, Aurora, IL. At the admission-free market, visitors can enjoy a unique shopping experience, family-friendly events and activities and authentic food and drinks.

German American Events, a subsidiary of the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest, has been hosting the Christkindlmarket since 1966 as an admission-free event. Since then, it has expanded to various locations in Illinois and Wisconsin and has become one of the most popular attractions for locals and tourists during winter.

The Christkindlmarket is fashioned after the traditional German Christmas market in Nuremberg, Germany, with its "candy-cane" striped kiosks. These small open-fronted physical structures display information or provide a service. The market is also known for its high-quality gifts and food, including local and international vendors selling various goods for all ages.

The much-loved markets are open for the first in RiverEdge Park, Aurora, IL. Tim Rater, president and chief executive officer of the Aurora Civic Center Authority, stated on the market's location, "RiverEdge Park is the ideal site to host the return of the Christkindlmarket to the western suburbs. We've always wanted to find a way to activate the Park beyond the summer concert season and we can't wait to welcome area residents and Christkindlmarket fans from all over to this incredible new holiday destination in downtown Aurora."

The Christkindlmarket in Aurora, IL, is open on Thursdays, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sundays, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. The market is also open in two additional Illinois locations: Chicago (Daley Plaza) and Wrigleyville (Gallagher Way).

Make sure to visit the Christkindlmarket this holiday season with your friends and family and enjoy the variety of vendors and other fun experiences!

The owners, Dana Buxbaum and her husband Shaun Tenant, mixed what they loved to create their idea of the perfect coffee shop. “I always wanted a coffee shop,” said Dana Buxbaum, “My husband and I combined our love of gaming with my vision of the coffee shop.” The coffee shop has made available bookshelves full of games such as Clue, The Serial Killer Trivia Game, Sorry, Dragoon and many more. In an interview with Patch editor, Buxbaum stated that they have “[...] about 400 games in [their] library” with family-friendly and inclusive...

Starting on December 1, users will no longer be presented with an option to list their sexual orientation, their political views, their address, or their religious views on their personal profiles. Facebook did not provide an explanation for this decision. The decision was announced one week after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, fired 11,000 employees, 13% of its total workforce; whether or not these two events are correlated, however, remains unclear.
