A New Latin Restaurant in Shorewood: C-Viche

Last week, November 15th, 2022, C-Viche, a new Latin restaurant opened in Shorewood. Located at 4330 N. Oakland Avenue in Shorewood, this new restaurant offers Peruvian, Mexican and other Latin specialties. Its owners, Karlos Soriano and Paco Villar, are both respectively natives of Peru and Mexico. The partners originally wanted to open the restaurant in 2021, however, it was postponed due to the pandemic. This new C-Viche restaurant is the second location on top of the one located at 2165 S. Kinnickinnic Av. in Milwaukee. This new location will be the same as the first one with the exception that his new one will have an open kitchen where four people at a time would be able to sit behind the counter and watch the cooks. 

Hours of opening are will be 4 to 10 PM Tuesday through Thursday and 4 to 11 PM Friday and Saturday. The restaurant plans to have a Sunday brunch as well as happy hours from 4 to 6 PM during the week. Main dishes' prices start from $13 for a dish of pasta to $56 for Argentinian churrasco, which is grilled meat, a prominent feature of cuisine in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina. Drinks and tapas will also be available at the seating bar Tuesday through Thursday. The restaurant also offers takeout as well as online ordering.

Doubled Tax Increases!?

Earlier this year, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker pushed against the gas tax increase by placing a 6 month hold on the scheduled hike. His goal was to relieve Illinois families from further financial stress. As published by My State Line reporter, John Clark, “Pritzker hoped that the initiative might ease the effects of inflation on residents.” Initially postponed to January 1 of this year, a bill coming from Springfield has proposed that the hike in gas tax be pushed back an additional 6 months.  Across the country, gas prices are decreasing; but Illinois remains number two in terms of how much its residents have to pay to fill up their tanks. With California in the lead, Illinois’ prices show no real stopping point. Without taking the increases into consideration, Illinois still comes in with second place for highest gas taxing. Bolingbrook Blues Showcase is Happening on September 24

Claar Performing Arts Center on September 24, 2022. The showcase will feature nine bands from Chicagoland who will compete in round 2 of the “Chicago Blues Challenge."  The challenge will be timed, judged and scored as the bands perform.
