Saints Come Together for a Bloody Good Time

Image Courtesy of redcross.org While attending the University of Saint Francis, all students are taught and expected to live the Franciscan way. Part of embracing this lifestyle means that we are expected to help people out whenever we can. People who need the help, those who are less fortunate than ourselves.  The only issue with that being, Saint Francis didn't consider that those of us in college don't always have the means to give back due to student debt hanging over us.  But there is another way to help give back!  Start filling up on your garlic and cilantro because on Tuesday, September 6th, the University of Saint Francis is teaming up with the American Red Cross for a blood drive. The best part is, you don't have to go to Dracula's castle to partake in giving blood, all you need to do is stop by the gymnasium at the Saint Clare campus which is located at 1550 Plainfield Road, anytime from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. . Still confused on how you can get involved? Provided ...

The Joliet Slammer take A Break

Photo Credits to Joliet Slammers The Joliet Slammers take a mental break right before finishing their season.  On August 24th, the Joliet Slammers asked on Twitter how they should spend their weekend twitting “After 18 weeks, 48 home games, and over 3,000 hours worked, our office will be closing for a brief mental health break.”  Fans hope that this break is what the team needs so that they can come back and finish off the season stronger.  Roman, a fan of the Joliet Slammers, says, “Its good that they are taking a break because they can come back more energized and prepared to win the rest of the games.”  So far, the Joliet Slammers have been killing it with 46 wins and 43 losses. Their batting average of  .250 will hopefully increase by the time their season ends if they manage to get more solid wins. This season for the Joliet slammer is still up in the air as they only have a 6-point difference between winning and losing.  Fanatics of the Joliet Slammer...

Following that, traditionally-garbed Hispanic folk dancers will perform from three to five, and the band Junkyard Dawgs will close out the night with more contemporary classic rock and blues from five to eight. While the musicians and dancers perform, there will be food vendors, a “Car Cruise”, a game of beanbag toss to play, a football game to watch, an inflatable slide for the kids, and more.  St. Mary Nativity is located on 706 N Broadway Street in Joliet, which is at the intersection of Route 53 and Ruby street, just before the Ruby Street bridge crosses over the Des ...

Courtesy of New York Times By: Hannah Mitchell Climate change has been impacting the world at a fast rate causing alarm for most with an exception of a few. Throughout the summer months of this past year, a large swatch of the far southern and southwestern suburbs of Illinois including Will County were experiencing abnormally dry conditions according to reporter Tim McGill from Fox News. Dry, yellow-colored lawns could be seen repeatedly throughout these areas. It was also found that the U.S. Drought Monitor’s latest analysis of our state has 6.9% of the state (primarily in Central IL) in a moderate drought.  Luckily for Illinoisans, there was no shortage of precipitation to follow which benefitted these areas that desperately needed it. There was actually an overshot of rainfall leadi...
