Barrett’s stance on abortion, per her 1998 Notre Dame Law School article, is that “abortion is always immoral.” Barrett may not have ruled on an abortion case herself, but she has voted to revisit abortion opposition rulings, has signed her name on anti-abortion advertisements in 2006, and has the support of anti-abortion groups.   By John Raspante                New Lenox Police Chief April DiSandro will make her final call on Friday morning as she retires from the New Lenox Police Department.             DiSandro was recognized at a village board meeting on Monday, October 26 for her years of service. “She is a lifelong resident and has given to this community in more ways than being a police officer,” Mayor Tim Baldermann said on her behalf. “April is somebody, who truly, despite being in a difficult profession, has always been compassionate with those she works with and even those she didn’t know. Graham Mertz started the game on a high note as the first UW freshman to start at quarterback in a season-opener since 1978. The magic only continued from there. These grants will help cover the cost of financial loss of businesses due to the pandemic, including payroll, rent, utilities, and other expenses for struggling business owners. Since the early days of the pandemic in March, Gov. JB Pritzker’s administration has distributed over $600 million for Business Interruption Grants (BIG). The BIG program is now accepting a second round of applications as stricter COVID-19 restrictions are placed in Will County. Pritzker announced these restrictions, which includes a ban on indoor dining in restaurants and bars, October 23 and Will County officials are urging business owners to take advantage of the BIG program grants. Now, Esqueda’s lawyer says that although Joliet Police Chief Al Roechner organized criminal charges against one of his own, good things will happen to his client in the end.   Esqueda’s Lawyer, Jeff Tomczak, told the Joliet Patch “What is most sad about this is that this is a clear message from Chief Roechner to the frontline officers that should they see actions they believe are misconduct by fellow officers, they must keep their mouths shut and stay quiet or they will be charged with a felony…I also have no doubt in my mind that these charges were shopped around and Will County prosecutors declined, as they should, so they went shopping in Kendall County and were able to find a prosecutor to file these bad charges.”   Tomczak predicts that he and Esqueda, his client, will win their case. Mugshot via Will County Sheriff's Office  By Tyler Drag                Retired sheriff’s deputy, John O’Malley, was in his home watching the Chicago Bears play the Detroit Lions on September 13, 2020 before he was shot once in his left thigh and again in the upper chest. 55-year-old Denise O’Malley, the victim’s wife, was taken into custody after her husband stumbled out of their Plainfield home, collapsed outside, and neighbors called the police. Since the shooting John O’Malley was hospitalized in critical condition and has luckily recovered. Now the suspect is being charged with attempted murder.              Jeff Tomczak is the criminal defense attorney for Denise O’Malley and recently called on her husband, the victim, to testify in court.
