Retired sheriff’s deputy, John O’Malley, was in his home watching the Chicago Bears play the Detroit Lions on September 13, 2020 before he was shot once in his left thigh and again in the upper chest. 55-year-old Denise O’Malley, the victim’s wife, was taken into custody after her husband stumbled out of their Plainfield home, collapsed outside, and neighbors called the police. Since the shooting John O’Malley was hospitalized in critical condition and has luckily recovered. Now the suspect is being charged with attempted murder.

Jeff Tomczak is the criminal defense attorney for Denise O’Malley and recently called on her husband, the victim, to testify in court. The victim agreed with the defense attorney that Denise O’Malley shouldn’t be held in the Will County Jail and instead the defense attorney went on to request that Denise O’Malley be moved to Linden Oaks Behavioral Health to address her mental illness. Since the shooting Denise O’Malley has been in the Will County Jail with a bail of $750,000.

Denise O’Malley’s defense attorney filed a motion requesting that the Joliet woman’s bail be reduced to $100,000. If Judge Carlson agrees to this request Denise O’Malley’s family claim they would be capable of bailing her out by coming up with a more reasonable $10,000 rather than $75,000. Denise O’Malley’s defense attorney also requested that she be placed under an electric monitoring device while she awaits her trial and would not have any contact with her husband.

Denise O’Malley has previously been working as a registered nurse at Edward’s Hospital, but her family claims they suspected she was suffering from some mental illness in February of 2020. She was taken to Linden Oaks where she was diagnosed with psychosis, anxiety disorder, and schizophrenia. She returned to her home and her defense attorney claims that her psychiatric problems grew worse- leading to the shooting. “They may not have given her the care she needed,” claimed the defense attorney referring to Linden Oaks.

This coffee shop is a little different from cafes already opened in the Joliet, Plainfield and Shorewood areas. Situated on 852 Sharp Drive in the Sharp Center off Black Road near Route 59 in Shorewood, the coffee shop, previously owned by a kickboxing studio, is close to the Bliss Hair Studio. The owners, Dana Buxbaum and her husband Shaun Tenant, mixed what they loved to create their idea of the perfect coffee shop. “I always wanted a coffee shop,” said Dana Buxbaum, “My husband and I combined our love of gaming with my vision of the coffee shop.” The coffee shop has made available bookshelves full of games such as Clue, The Serial Killer Trivia Game, Sorry, Dragoon and many more. In an interview with Patch editor, Buxbaum stated that they have “[...] about 400 games in [their] library” with family-friendly and inclusive...
Rory Richards Facebook Certain Fields From Profile Bios, Including “Religious Views”; Does Not Say Why Facebook has announced plans to remove certain fields from profile bios. Starting on December 1, users will no longer be presented with an option to list their sexual orientation, their political views, their address, or their religious views on their personal profiles. Facebook did not provide an explanation for this decision. The decision was announced one week after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, fired 11,000 employees, 13% of its total workforce; whether or not these two events are correlated, however, remains unclear.
