 It's Halloween and today marks the 1-year anniversary of one of Joliet's most notorious shootings in recent history. There is also an update on one of last week's stories involving a Spanish American Club. For more context on this specific story visit the post here.

Anniversary and Update of 2021 Halloween Shooting

    Joliet, IL - On Halloween 2021, a shooting occurred at a Joliet house party when rival gang members spotted each other and engaged in firing. The shooting left 2 people dead and 10 others injured. The three alleged shooters, Joskar Ramos and brothers Thomas and Jeremy Lopez were all arrested and placed in Will County Jail with a $10 million bond each. All three of them were charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder. Judges informed these murder defendants that if convicted, they would face life in prison with no opportunity for parole. 

The intended target Latin King gang member Sergio Hernandez was left paralyzed after the incident. The update on Hernandez is that he passed away this weekend right before the anniversary of the shooting. Families of the victims are also mourning the anniversary of their losses. At the time of the shooting one of the victim's family were able to raise over $10,000 via GoFundMe for funeral expenses. 

Update on Club Stabbing

    Joliet, IL - Last week, a stabbing occurred at a Spanish American Club. At the time of the crime the alleged suspect was unknown but the Joliet Police Department have made an arrest after in-depth investigation. 30-year-old Jose Aguilar-Moreno is the alleged suspect after being arrested and placed into the Will County Jail. Aguilar-Moreno has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder. 

There were three victims who suffered from the encounter with Aguilar-Moreno. The main victim who was previously anonymous has been confirmed to be Jorge Chiguil-Toto. He was the victim that died due to the stab wounds. It has also been revealed that it was more to his death than just a stab wound. Chiguil-Toto was also allegedly ran over by Aguilar-Moreno's SUV during his escape. There was surveillance footage that displayed Aguilar-Moreno stabbing the victim. Aguilar-Moreno has a bond of $2 million as he awaits his trial.

  Rory Richards Facebook Certain Fields From Profile Bios, Including “Religious Views”; Does Not Say Why Facebook has announced plans to remove certain fields from profile bios. Starting on December 1, users will no longer be presented with an option to list their sexual orientation, their political views, their address, or their religious views on their personal profiles. Facebook did not provide an explanation for this decision. The decision was announced one week after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, fired 11,000 employees, 13% of its total workforce; whether or not these two events are correlated, however, remains unclear.

Bolingbrook Blues Showcase is Happening on September 24

Claar Performing Arts Center on September 24, 2022. The showcase will feature nine bands from Chicagoland who will compete in round 2 of the “Chicago Blues Challenge."  The challenge will be timed, judged and scored as the bands perform.
