Violence Remains Consistent

 Violent and sometimes deadly encounters are constantly in the Joliet crime scene. During the course of this past week, there have been a few violent crimes reported by police. The following stories cover these encounters.

Joliet Victim Stabbed to Death

    Joliet, IL - Two 40-year-old men were stabbed during an altercation at around 1 a.m. on October 24. The stabbing took place at the Spanish American Club on 413 Fleeker Ave. One victim survived and is in stable condition at the Silver Cross Hospital and the other victim unfortunately died at the hospital. 

Ambulances hurried the two victims to Silver Cross to get them help. A third victim was also struck in the face but refused to go to the hospital. The suspect has not been identified and the victims are still anonymous as of now. 

Domestic Violence Leaves Woman Hospitalized 

    Joliet, IL - On Sunday, October 23, a woman was allegedly struck multiple times during an altercation. William Bostedt, a 53-year-old man is the alleged attacker and has been booked into Will County Jail on domestic battery charges. After the altercation, the victim fled the house and went to a hospital for medical treatment. 

Once the victim reached the hospital police were called to her location and were informed of the suspect and his actions. They found Bostedt at his residence on the 1800 block of Towhee Court and arrested him with no trouble. 

Stabbing at Murphy Express 

    Joliet, IL - On October 19, a senior citizen was arrested for having a connection to a stabbing that occurred at a Murphy Express gas station early in the year. John Harold Williamson is a 68-year-old man who was booked into Will County Jail with an involuntary manslaughter charge. He was released after posting 10 percent of his $50,000 bond. 

The victim was a 59-year-old man named Rickey Moffett and he died of his wounds a week after the incident occurred. Moffett entered the gas station and informed an employee of his wounds and police arrived later on. After the man died the police determined that they would investigate the incident as a homicide.

  Rory Richards Facebook Certain Fields From Profile Bios, Including “Religious Views”; Does Not Say Why Facebook has announced plans to remove certain fields from profile bios. Starting on December 1, users will no longer be presented with an option to list their sexual orientation, their political views, their address, or their religious views on their personal profiles. Facebook did not provide an explanation for this decision. The decision was announced one week after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, fired 11,000 employees, 13% of its total workforce; whether or not these two events are correlated, however, remains unclear.

Bolingbrook Blues Showcase is Happening on September 24

Claar Performing Arts Center on September 24, 2022. The showcase will feature nine bands from Chicagoland who will compete in round 2 of the “Chicago Blues Challenge."  The challenge will be timed, judged and scored as the bands perform.
