Welcome Back Fighting Saints!

Hugh Mungus

With fall break in our rear view mirror, it is time to look to see what the rest of this semester has in store for students here at the University of Saint Francis.

Starting this Monday (10/24) the GSA will be hosting Queer Chats in Tower Hall room N225. Queer Chats will take place from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m. with the conversation centering around Polyamorous Relationships.

Soccer fans are going to get a real kick out of this news!  On Tuesday (10/25) the men's soccer team are set to compete against Judson University at 7 p.m.. But that's not all we have for sports news on a Tuesday! Along with men's soccer, the girls volleyball team is set for action against Olivet Nazarene University at 7 p.m. in the Pat Sullivan Center.

On Wednesday (10/26), everyone's favorite shuttle will be venturing off into the unknown (Walmart) at 7 p.m.. So Saints, get your shopping list written up and be ready to be picked up outside the Pat Sullivan Center.

On Thursday (10/27) there will be an Internships Paneling Event and Discussion in the Turk Theatre from 2:20 p.m. until 3:45 p.m..  A statement by the Servant Leaders regarding this event reads: BOO! Join the Servant Leaders for our first ever internship discussion led and programmed by students for students! This is an opportunity for those who have not yet had their internship to learn the process and how to find a company that aligns with your moral and ethical values. After the panel, our very own Career Success Center will be speaking on career opportunities as well! Join us for food, refreshments, and Halloween treats! All are welcome to join!"

In addition, this semester is going to be coming to an end quicker than we realize, meaning it's time for student's to start the registration process for the spring semester. Seniors can begin registering for classes as soon as this week, with juniors beginning the process next Monday with sophomores and freshmen soon to follow. So be sure to get in touch with your advisor today!

This coffee shop is a little different from cafes already opened in the Joliet, Plainfield and Shorewood areas. Situated on 852 Sharp Drive in the Sharp Center off Black Road near Route 59 in Shorewood, the coffee shop, previously owned by a kickboxing studio, is close to the Bliss Hair Studio. The owners, Dana Buxbaum and her husband Shaun Tenant, mixed what they loved to create their idea of the perfect coffee shop. “I always wanted a coffee shop,” said Dana Buxbaum, “My husband and I combined our love of gaming with my vision of the coffee shop.” The coffee shop has made available bookshelves full of games such as Clue, The Serial Killer Trivia Game, Sorry, Dragoon and many more. In an interview with Patch editor, Buxbaum stated that they have “[...] about 400 games in [their] library” with family-friendly and inclusive...

Starting on December 1, users will no longer be presented with an option to list their sexual orientation, their political views, their address, or their religious views on their personal profiles. Facebook did not provide an explanation for this decision. The decision was announced one week after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, fired 11,000 employees, 13% of its total workforce; whether or not these two events are correlated, however, remains unclear.
