 Lately, there have been unfortunate circumstances in Joliet's crime scene.

Bomb Threats at the Hollywood Casino

    Joliet, IL - On October 1, an unknown man called and threatened the Hollywood Casino with bombs. The man claimed that there were multiple bombs on the premises of the casino and that they would be detonated remotely. Authorities such as the Joliet Fire Department, specialized bomb detection officers, and bomb detecting K-9's were were called to the scene. Through thorough search it was concluded that there were no bombs at or around the casino. 

The casino complex and the hotel was evacuated prior to the search. After the search the casino was closed for the remainder of the night and the hotel was opened back up to guests.

Child Accidentally Shoots Himself

    Joliet, IL - Sensei Bennet is a fugitive wanted by the Joliet Police Department. Bennet was located and arrested on October 6 at around 10 a.m. in Morris, Illinois. The U.S Marshals task force found Bennet and he has now been placed into the Will County jail.

Bennet has been on the run due to having connections with a 2-year-old boy who shot himself in the face. The boy discovered a loaded and unsecured weapon at his mother's house and shot himself. The gun was determined to be Bennet's and Bennet was concluded to be the boyfriend of the child's mother. The shooting occurred on September 27, and the boy has been making progress. 

Bennet faces criminal charges that consist of endangering the life or health of a child, unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon, reckless conduct, and unlawful possession of cannabis. Bennet's bail has been set at $200,000 as he awaits trial. 

45 Foot Fall Leaves Worker in Critical Condition

    Joliet, IL - On October 4, a construction worker had to be flown to a Downers Grove hospital facility after falling off of a roof. The fall happened at a CenterPoint Intermodal Center construction site. A Life Star helicopter was deployed to the scene to airlift the worker. The worker suffered from multiple fractures but has now been reported to be in stable condition. As of now this is considered to be an accident and there is no indication in regards to this being an intentional or a negligent occurrence

Doubled Tax Increases!?

Earlier this year, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker pushed against the gas tax increase by placing a 6 month hold on the scheduled hike. His goal was to relieve Illinois families from further financial stress. As published by My State Line reporter, John Clark, “Pritzker hoped that the initiative might ease the effects of inflation on residents.” Initially postponed to January 1 of this year, a bill coming from Springfield has proposed that the hike in gas tax be pushed back an additional 6 months.  Across the country, gas prices are decreasing; but Illinois remains number two in terms of how much its residents have to pay to fill up their tanks. With California in the lead, Illinois’ prices show no real stopping point. Without taking the increases into consideration, Illinois still comes in with second place for highest gas taxing. Bolingbrook Blues Showcase is Happening on September 24

Claar Performing Arts Center on September 24, 2022. The showcase will feature nine bands from Chicagoland who will compete in round 2 of the “Chicago Blues Challenge."  The challenge will be timed, judged and scored as the bands perform. Finalists of the challenge will move on to the “International Blues Challenge” (IBC) in Memphis, according to the Bolingbrook Arts Council press release.  Performances for the showcase will feature Darren Jay and The Delta Souls, Downtown Charlie Brown and Binford, Hendricks and Cash, Kevin Purcell and The Nightburners, Lil Harvey and The Chitown Blues Band, A Patch of Blues, The Sean McKee Band, Tip Jar Stars and Win Noll and The Rockin’ Souls.
