Incumbent Tammy Duckworth and Opposition Challenger Kathy Salvi Debate Abortion Rights
In a forum organized by the Illinois Associated Press, incumbent Illinois senator Tammy Duckworth debated her opponent, Kathy Salvi, on, among other things, abortion rights. Tammy, being a Democrat, argued for the reinstatement of the Roe vs. Wade Supreme Court decision, while Kathy, being a Republican, was evasive about the specifics of her position, but argued that abortion is a “state’s rights issue”. Kathy accused Tammy of being an abortion “extremist”, as Tammy repeatedly insisted that she wanted only for the previous status quo to be restored.
