The Reoccurrence of Physical Violence

Physical violence has been prevalent in Joliet recently. These next stories cover the violent encounters.

Woman Attacked Randomly

        Joliet, IL- On September 9, a woman was attacked randomly while riding her bicycle. The attack occurred around 10:30pm at the 400 block of Kungs Way. 

27-year-old James Gardner used a plastic broomstick to strike the woman after yelling at her to be quiet. He then proceeded to punch her repeatedly in a fit of rage. The woman's kids fled the area and police were requested soon after. 

The woman suffered from lacerations on her left eye, bruises on her legs and her face was swollen. Gardner was charged with aggravated battery and and is on a $150,000 bond. 

Man Attacks Pregnant Woman 

        Joliet, IL- On September 9, Chase Herman attacked a woman who is 7 months pregnant. During an altercation, Herman grabbed the victim by the back of her neck and pinned her to the bed. While the victim tried to escape, Herman grabbed her legs to prevent her from fleeing and proceeded to punch her twice. The attack happened on the 1000 block of Oneida Street. 

Herman was arrested later that night and was charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery. He has been released from jail due to posting his $40,000 bail as he awaits trial.

Man Arrested for Domestic Violence 

        Joliet, IL- On September 15, Abrahan Najera was arrested and placed into custody after an altercation. Najera pushed a victim onto a bed during an argument and pushed the victim back against the bed. The victim was able to escape and called 911. 

Najera was released from the Will County jail after posting 10% of his $3,000 bail. He was charged with a domestic disturbance. Officers concluded that the victim was battered down by her 33-year-old son.

Troubled Criminals in Joliet

 A numerous amount of Joliet's crimes have been committed by troubled individuals. A lot of these people need help and need to get a better grasp on life and the decisions they make. The following stories detail some of these troubled criminals' experience with breaking the law.  Man Caught With Child Pornography     Joliet, IL - Bernard Kelly, a 29-year-old man, had his house raided by Illinois State Police. The police conducted the raid at Kelly's home on the 1300 block of Copperfield Avenue after an in-depth investigation. They found the child pornography in a file on one of Kelly's electronic devices.  Kelly was arrested and taken to Will County Jail. He is facing 3 counts of possession of child porn and currently has a bail of $250,000.
