Jobe-Gavin Fights Claims in "Duck" Dickinson Case

By John Raspante

Last week, the WAM 3 Communicator covered the controversy regarding Joliet City Councilman Don “Duck” Dickinson’s nude photos. The councilman filed a police report two weeks ago claiming that Mayor Bob O’Dekirk was blackmailing him over nude photos that Dickinson claimed he was exchanging with another consenting adult. The police report listed Joliet Park Board member Jennifer Jobe-Gavin as the consenting woman, and she has now come out to deny that claim.

On Tuesday November 10, Jobe-Gavin issued a news release denouncing Dickinson’s actions and threatening to sue him:

“The libelous and malicious statements made by Councilman Dickinson in thus said article, which have been subsequently reported by other various media outlets and online by Suzanna Christine Ibarra, Will County Progressives Chairwoman, have defamed Jobe-Gavin and caused her intentional infliction of emotional distress personally, in her community, professionally as a woman and an elected public official,” Jobe-Gavin said in the statement.

She continued to go on and say, “Councilman-at-Large Don 'Duck' Dickinson knowingly, recklessly, maliciously made false and slanderous statements regarding Jennifer Jobe-Gavin as the person that received nude pictures of Councilman Dickinson and had since allowed them to fall into the wrong hands, in addition to other maleficent assertions.”

“On July 3, 2020, Jobe-Gavin informed Councilman Dickinson that she was withdrawing her endorsement for his re-election bid for councilman-at-large for the April 2021 elections,” the statement continued. “In her capacity and role as a sworn-in elected official, she has never had an intimate relationship with Councilman Dickinson.”

In September, “Duck” Dickinson announced he was not going to seek re-election for a second four-tear term of office on the Joliet City Council. Besides being an at-large councilman. Dickinson has a full-time job as a maintenance employee for the Joliet Park Board.

Jennifer Jobe-Gavin is currently trying to find a lawyer to take her case, which is a pretty big decision and should not be taken lightly. In her statement, Jobe-Gavin concluded that, “Due to the malicious actions of The City of Joliet Councilman-at-Large Don 'Duck' Dickinson have left her with no other options but to move forward with litigious actions against said individuals.”

This coffee shop is a little different from cafes already opened in the Joliet, Plainfield and Shorewood areas. Situated on 852 Sharp Drive in the Sharp Center off Black Road near Route 59 in Shorewood, the coffee shop, previously owned by a kickboxing studio, is close to the Bliss Hair Studio. The owners, Dana Buxbaum and her husband Shaun Tenant, mixed what they loved to create their idea of the perfect coffee shop. “I always wanted a coffee shop,” said Dana Buxbaum, “My husband and I combined our love of gaming with my vision of the coffee shop.” The coffee shop has made available bookshelves full of games such as Clue, The Serial Killer Trivia Game, Sorry, Dragoon and many more. In an interview with Patch editor, Buxbaum stated that they have “[...] about 400 games in [their] library” with family-friendly and inclusive...
Rory Richards Facebook Certain Fields From Profile Bios, Including “Religious Views”; Does Not Say Why Facebook has announced plans to remove certain fields from profile bios. Starting on December 1, users will no longer be presented with an option to list their sexual orientation, their political views, their address, or their religious views on their personal profiles. Facebook did not provide an explanation for this decision. The decision was announced one week after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, fired 11,000 employees, 13% of its total workforce; whether or not these two events are correlated, however, remains unclear.
