Leadership Roundtable and the Diocese of Joliet are partnering together for the organization’s inaugural Latino Pastoral Leaders Initiative.

Leadership Roundtable, a Catholic non-profit organization, has selected the Diocese of Joliet after a nationwide search for a diocesan partner to launch the Initiative. The national Advisory Committee of the Latino Pastoral Leaders Initiative and Leadership Roundtable reviewed applications from dioceses across the nation and selected the Diocese of Joliet for its commitment to listening to members of the Hispanic/Latino community and working to foster leadership that recognizes and represents the community in decision-making. Leadership Roundtable will be working closely with the diocese and its Hispanic Ethnic Ministries Office to begin training the first group of Hispanic/Latino Catholic leaders in January 2021.

The Latino Pastoral Leaders Initiative aims to increase access to critical leadership development and pastoral management training, coaching, peer support, and pastoral mentoring utilizing Leadership Roundtable’s proven leadership development solutions. The leadership development solutions include a Catholic Leadership 360 and Toolbox for Pastoral Management. The Initiative seeks to positively impact Hispanic/Latino leaders and to promote a new culture of co-responsible leadership to help serve the Catholic Church in the United States.

The launch of the Latino Pastoral Initiative comes with the support of a $1 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc., an Indianapolis-based private philanthropic foundation, through its Thriving in Ministry initiative. The Lilly Endowment is encouraging various religious organization across the nation to create or strengthen programs that help pastoral leaders build relationships with colleagues and guide them through leadership challenges in parish ministry.

Bishop Ronald A. Hicks noted that: “Leadership Roundtable believes it is critical that Catholic parishes and diocese support Latino/a pastoral leaders to thrive in their vocations and thus, support the well-being of the parishioners they serve. We are grateful for the opportunity to partner with Leadership Roundtable to provide this important formation.”

Situated on 852 Sharp Drive in the Sharp Center off Black Road near Route 59 in Shorewood, the coffee shop, previously owned by a kickboxing studio, is close to the Bliss Hair Studio. The owners, Dana Buxbaum and her husband Shaun Tenant, mixed what they loved to create their idea of the perfect coffee shop. “I always wanted a coffee shop,” said Dana Buxbaum, “My husband and I combined our love of gaming with my vision of the coffee shop.” The coffee shop has made available bookshelves full of games such as Clue, The Serial Killer Trivia Game, Sorry, Dragoon and many more. In an interview with Patch editor, Buxbaum stated that they have “[...] about 400 games in [their] library” with family-friendly and inclusive...

Starting on December 1, users will no longer be presented with an option to list their sexual orientation, their political views, their address, or their religious views on their personal profiles. Facebook did not provide an explanation for this decision. The decision was announced one week after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, fired 11,000 employees, 13% of its total workforce; whether or not these two events are correlated, however, remains unclear.
