 Violence and drug dealing seems to be consistent problems here in Joliet. The following reports cover these stories

Pregnant Woman Attacked, Suspect Jumped Bridge 

       Joliet, IL- On Wednesday September 28, a pregnant woman was allegedly attacked by 21-year-old Anthony Ramirez. According to Joliet police, Ramirez punched a woman who was nine months pregnant and held her down against her will. Ramirez was then pulled out of the Des Plaines River after he jumped in it earlier that evening. 

Eight criminal charges were filed against Ramirez. two counts of aggravated battery against a pregnant victim, two counts of domestic battery, three counts of resisting arrest and one count of battery. 

Ramirez was safely removed from the river and was brought ashore. He was then placed into custody and is currently in the Will County Adult Detention Facility with his bail set at $25,000. 

Suspected Cocaine Dealer Failed to Outrun Police

        Joliet, IL- On September 30, Joliet police attempted to pull over suspect Dontra Loggins at around 11:30pm for a stop sign violation on Liberty Avenue. Loggins attempted to flee from the vehicle but was soon caught. He had a bag in his possession as he fled and police had recovered packages carrying suspected crack cocaine. 

During the arrest, police discovered that Loggins had two additional arrest warrants. One of his warrants being from Livingston County for unlawful delivery of dangerous drugs.

Loggings is in the Will County Jail and is facing charges of delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, obstructing a peace officer, resisting a peace officer and a Will County arrest warrant. Loggins bail is set at $600,000 due to the latest allegations of dealing crack cocaine.

  Rory Richards Facebook Certain Fields From Profile Bios, Including “Religious Views”; Does Not Say Why Facebook has announced plans to remove certain fields from profile bios. Starting on December 1, users will no longer be presented with an option to list their sexual orientation, their political views, their address, or their religious views on their personal profiles. Facebook did not provide an explanation for this decision. The decision was announced one week after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, fired 11,000 employees, 13% of its total workforce; whether or not these two events are correlated, however, remains unclear.

Bolingbrook Blues Showcase is Happening on September 24

Claar Performing Arts Center on September 24, 2022. The showcase will feature nine bands from Chicagoland who will compete in round 2 of the “Chicago Blues Challenge."  The challenge will be timed, judged and scored as the bands perform. Finalists of the challenge will move on to the “International Blues Challenge” (IBC) in Memphis, according to the Bolingbrook Arts Council press release.  Performances for the showcase will feature Darren Jay and The Delta Souls, Downtown Charlie Brown and Binford, Hendricks and Cash, Kevin Purcell and The Nightburners, Lil Harvey and The Chitown Blues Band, A Patch of Blues, The Sean McKee Band, Tip Jar Stars and Win Noll and The Rockin’ Souls.
