Joliet Man Gets DUI #5

Maybe a fifth time is the charm for a Joliet man facing his fifth DUI.

Jeffery Bick, a resident on the 600 Block of Ida Street, was booked into the Will County Jail around 12:30 in the morning on August 19, 2020. According to Bick’s criminal complaint his prior four DUI’s were all in Will County on November 1, 2018, April 16, 2016, April 13, 2010, and September 1, 2001.

Now, Bick finds himself unable to pay the 10% ($25,000) of his bail, which is $250,000 total, in order to gain his freedom after being caught under the heavy influence of alcohol. Bick was driving his red Pontiac Grad-AM at the time and his official charge is two felony counts of aggravated driving under the influence per the Will County State’s Attorney’s Office of Jim Glasgow.

It remains to be seen how long Bick will lose his license or if he will even get it back, however according to cyberdriveillinois.com’s “DUI Fact Book” for Illinois- 291 people were killed in alcohol-related accidents, which made up 28% of the 1,035 total cash fatalities in 2018. Also, per Illinois law, when a person receives their third DUI the charge progresses into a full-blown felony charge. As Bick finds himself stuck in jail on his fifth DUI, there's no word on whether his vehicle was impounded or not and he will have the face the consequences of yet another DUI on his record.

Situated on 852 Sharp Drive in the Sharp Center off Black Road near Route 59 in Shorewood, the coffee shop, previously owned by a kickboxing studio, is close to the Bliss Hair Studio. The owners, Dana Buxbaum and her husband Shaun Tenant, mixed what they loved to create their idea of the perfect coffee shop. “I always wanted a coffee shop,” said Dana Buxbaum, “My husband and I combined our love of gaming with my vision of the coffee shop.” The coffee shop has made available bookshelves full of games such as Clue, The Serial Killer Trivia Game, Sorry, Dragoon and many more. In an interview with Patch editor, Buxbaum stated that they have “[...] about 400 games in [their] library” with family-friendly and inclusive...

Starting on December 1, users will no longer be presented with an option to list their sexual orientation, their political views, their address, or their religious views on their personal profiles. Facebook did not provide an explanation for this decision. The decision was announced one week after Meta, the parent company of Facebook, fired 11,000 employees, 13% of its total workforce; whether or not these two events are correlated, however, remains unclear.
